The other night I stayed home and watched The Motorcycle Diaries, in Spanish with Italian subtitles. To my delight, I was able to follow the subtitles easily and understood everything (yay for my Italian!). To delight me even more, I realized that I understood most of the Spanish too. It’s very close to Italian. Of course without subtitles I don’t think I would have been able to follow it very well.
You know, if the Argentine people themselves came with Italian subtitles, I think I’d be able to get around just fine without studying Spanish…

You will probably get along quite fine…much easier for you since you have that Italian background.
Speaking of subtitulos…is you ever watch the Spanish movie Goya, which artistically is fantastic. But has the worst english subtitles I have ever seen. completely lacking in some words and just replacing them with ixj or to that effect.
ps: my english is becoming worse the longer I stay here. It took me 5 minutes to get the correct spelling of artisticly, artisticaly, A-R-T-I-S-T-I-C-A-L-L-Y! There got it!
LOL!! Oh tell me about it. I have forgotten so many English words and I invent new words based on my Italian. For example, “become” in Italian is “diventare” so of course instead of saying “I will become” the other day I said something like “I will divent.”
Then of course when I do speak English I have the accent of someone who is just learning English.
The problem is, my spanish is still muy verguenza two little dots over the u, and my english is getting worse by the day.
