oh honey! I could have written #5 myself, word by word. *hugs*

But pineapple? Pineapple is my favorite fruit in the whole world. Then again, you can eat nuts and shellfish and a lot of things I can’t eat, so it kind of evens out in the end.

Thanks for tagging me, I needed a kick in the butt to start writing!

Tina! I love your made-up name! What’s the story behind the choices, especially the male ones :-)

Same with me for #5! I used to climb trees with books to escape recess at school, which I used to call torture time. My fourth grade teacher once insisted that I stay and play dodge ball. I did and ended up with a concussion and bloody nose. At which point I turned to my teacher and said “I told you so” as she brought me to the nurse’s office. Fun times…..

But look at how fantastic we are now, we so rock! ;-)
I’m also the same with the curly hair and no shampoo! I use a product called No Poo by DevaCurl. They make a whole line of products specifically for curly hair. Love them!

Caroline & Debbi & Annika: Yeah, it’s amazing how those of us who were bullied in school wound up being pretty cool and interesting people - and even more amazing is how we all attract each other as friends!

Johanna - My favorite names for boys were Eric and Jose. So I had wanted them too! :-) Now my favorite names for boys are more along the lines of Alessandro, or Stefano… Also, I ‘m a very indecisive person at times who hates to choose between things, so I had to have alllll of the names. Skipper was because it was my dad’s nickname for me as a child.

Debbi - oh yes, I know Deva curl :-) For my CO wash, I use Suave strawberries & cream, and for my conditioning, I alternate between Burts Bees “More Shiny” and Giovanni 50/50 balance remoisturizer. I then scrunch with gel and let dry. :-)

On my God. I was also going to say that I was a #5, too!!!! And then I saw that it’s many more of us–and I’m with Debbi, we rock. Not only that, but the two of you, ladies, who I know personally (and I’m sure it’s the case for Annika too) seem so personable, charming and sefl-confident, and kind, and nice that it’s just bound to be that this type of early experience makes you fantastic :P
Tina, on top of that, I’m with you with Botticelli’s Venus!!!! It’s so funny, because I actually had a fact on Botticelli’s paintings in my own list that I ended up erasing to put something else. Ha. Definitely in the same wavelength!!!! :)
Finally–wow, I’ve seen your hair, and it looks fantastic. I’m really curious about the care you take — though unfortunately I have curls only on very humid weather, and they are rather weak… :-(

I think most people who end up in Tango were #5s. We’re the ones that always did interesting, out-of-the-box things :-)
I’m going to have to do some serious hair product testing when my hair gets long enough - if in fact my hair grows back curly. So far it’s pretty straight. But pretty short :-)

Your hair looks amazing!!! I also stopped using shampoo last July after reading Annika’s blog, but it hasn’t worked out so well for me! I need to wash with baking soda every 2 to 3 days. I don’t know if the problem is my scalp, the water, or the Tokyo pollution. What is your no poo routine??

Hi Tina,

Thanks for sharing your list with us. I am supremely envious of your curly hair even though I haven’t seen it yet. I am sure it is gorgeous. I am sad you can’t have pineapple, though.

I agree with everyone’s comments on #5. What’s good to know is that you survived that cruel phase in order to go on and be yourself, and not have been crushed permanently by it. Maybe those mean kids helped in some way to make you the special, insightful talented person you are today.

Jen - Hi! Make sure your conditioner has absolutely ingredients ending in the letters “cone”. that’s #1…

I “wash” with a super light conditioner, V05 Strawberries & Creme (I know I said Suave but I think it’s V05), and I really really scrub my scalp and then I rinse really, really well.
Then I condition with (well, see above, you’ll see my products.

One thing you can do instead of baking soda (which drives my skin crazy) is when you do have to use shampoo, only wash your roots - and only do it after you have lightly coated the rest of your hair in a bit of conditioner so that the sulfates don’t get it.

tangobaby - It sucks because I love egglpant and pineapple. But when I eat them, not so good. :-( Pineapple makes my mouth freak out (raw, painful, sort of swollen but not a lot, and it happens immediately) while if I bite into eggplant my gums bleed - and I get a huge, horrible upset tummy. It’s weird. If it’s a tiny ingredient with a lot of other things, I can handle a small amount but I am too scared to do that.

Thanks Tina! I’ll try those products when I’m back in the States. Until then maybe I’ll try conditioner washing for a month. Of course that means I’ll have to wake up earlier every day; right now on no-wash days I don’t even wet my hair so I’ve gotten lazy! (^o^)

Btw I got my first translating job! Yay! Thanks for all your help!
