I just made my way out from under a pile of work (and isolation) to read this news on Alex’s blog.
Luciano was a gorgeous, gregarious young man you could find at all sorts of milongas. When I was still going out all the time, I was sure to run into him. I didn’t know him very well but I was always struck by how kind he was when I’d say hi, as I was accustomed to the “hot young things” having giant egos. This was not the case with Luciano. No ego that I knew of. Always a smile, always kind words, remembered my name, never hit on me, and always lovely to dance with. And so, so handsome.
He died this week of a heart attack, apparently the result of a post-knee surgery blood clot that moved to his heart. And he was only 41. That just makes me so sad.
I haven’t been to the same milongas as him in a few months, but his is a face I could never forget.
I feel sad for his family and friends. For his mother.
People, seize the day. Don’t ever think, “Oh, I have time, I’m young, I’ll do it later” because you don’t have time, and you’re not young, considering you don’t actually know when your last day will be. Any love you want to express to someone or anything you think you can do or want to do, do it now.
Rest in peace, Luciano.
