Yesterday a visit with Cherie to try on her gorgeous Custo Barcelona shirts turned into lunch prepared by the talented Ruben on their terrace, a nap, and a trip to La Milonguita, a milonga which none of us have been to yet.
What a lovely experience it was - the room is white with white curtains which, in my opinion, makes for very flattering lighting. There were faces I recognized, and the music was great. The hostess had offered me a seat more in the front with the women, but I preferred to hang with my partners in crime instead. I knew the guys would find me to dance, so I wasn’t worried about where I sat.
This was the first time I’ve been to a milonga with no make-up on. For this reason, I was thankful for the good lighting! I’m a little insecure about my eyes not standing out enough for cabeceo effectiveness so I’m never at the milonga without my eyeliner, but there were no problems at La Milonguita. I danced plenty!
Cherie and Ruben left a little after midnight and I opted to stay. A very kind girl from the table behind us, came up to me and said, “Are you alone? If so, come and sit with us. You can’t be alone!” I was touched and I joined them, and spent the rest of the evening in very good, friendly company. To my surprise, one of the people at the table was another fellow blogger, the writer of Tango Hours. Small world, eh?
It was nice to be able to put a face to a name! Her group of friends was very welcoming and friendly, and I had lovely dances with a couple of them. Good times!
They all decided to go to La Viruta while I opted to go home and sleep - good thing, too, because I was awaken very early by not one, but two translation jobs from a regular client! This is good, income is good.
**P.S. For any Spanish speakers scratching their head over the title of this blog entry - it’s in Italiano - I thought of putting it in Spanish but I’m kind of missing Italy so I threw in a bit of Italian flavor ![]()

Tina, We went to La Milonguita twice, and the organizer was very warm to us and made sure we were happy. We had so much fun and stayed til they closed. It is nice to think of you there. I have the best memories of that place! Looking forward to seening you soon, but I have to say, spring is taking it’s own sweet time, and I want to make sure the garden is party-ready!
Besitos
