I guess I will not be generous any more and spend my 10 centavos. The guy at the heladería was happy when I gave him 2 pesos worth. (I hate scrounging up anything less than 25 for the collectivos)

We have the opposite problem in Santiago. All bip (magnetic card), no coins or cash of any form. It’s been a bear to get our minds around, but I think we’ve finally got it. Looking forward to reading more. Hopped over from stilllifeinbuenosaires’ corner of bloglandia. I’ve been dragging her around and talking her ear off here Santiago.

un abrazo!

I visited Rosario, Santa Fe last month where the standard bus fare is $1.75. I’ve gotten used to paying $1.25 when I take the bus in BsAs. Glad I live walking distance to my favorite milongas.

The subte was 60 centavos, and the bus was 70 centavos in 1999. The city still has one of the cheapest transportation systems in South America. If only they could find a way to implement fare cards on buses!!!
