It dawned on me last night that I’m getting to know this city more intimately. I’m used to it. It feels natural to be here. I will have spent three months here this time around. I am so grateful for that. It’s nice to get a routine going.
Now that I finally have internet en mi casa, I can work again. I woke up early today, went to the confiteria across the street for some medialunas, came back to make myself coffee, and now I am sitting here in the kitchen, waiting for some e-mails from clients.
My roommates are still asleep and probably think I’m “mad” for being up like this. But it’s nice. I have proven to myself that I can take my work around the world, that I can be the nomadic chica that I am and still be able to support myself doing something I love. If you just think outside the box and commit, things happen. They really do.
Those pictures of the house that I posted yesterday, by the way, are not of just our house. Those are mostly of the courtyard and corridor of the building. I think there are 50 units in the building. Half of them are on the ground floor (like mine). We really lucked out with this place. I lucked out.
All in all, I’m happy here. It’s wonderful to speak in another language when I have the confidence to do so. Life here is not without its less than graceful realities, but that is all part of the experience. It’s all part of what makes us grow. I appreciate my experience here every day.
What an exciting year this is going to be. Buenos Aires, a summer in Seattle, and then Italy. Per sempre.

“It’s not without its less than graceful realities”…is so true and well said, but I so agree that it’s something wonderful at the same time to be slowly assimilating to a new language.
Hi Erin! it is wonderful
I’m excited to get over there and hear you speak Italian!!!
But oops, I just edited what I wrote - I meant that life here is not without its less than graceful realities (I didn’t mean the language - though the same can be said about language for sure!)
